I don’t even know what that is a picture of but I want 2 STAT! ….Ok, So whatever optimism in life you were holding onto before you began reading this should be gone by the end. Why? Because I’m going to ruin the GOOD things in life by showing you how BAD they are. Why would I do that? Well…because I found an article and read it and it ruined my day, so I thought I would do the good neighborly thing and share! (You’re welcome) Ok, it’s not that bad. It does kind of make you wonder why you are nice to people though. Speaking of which…(***WARNING TANGENT APPROACHING***) I just got done reading Frankenstein for the first time. Never seen any movies based on the book either, so the fact that the monster was a cool and educated dude with a little temper that just wanted to be loved, was kind of a shock to me! He was such a nice dude but everyone kept running away from him! Talk about doing good things and having them back fire. (see I knew it would tie-in to this post somewhere) Anyway, check out 4 good things that are actually BAD. Including Love, after the jump!
#1.) Being a Forgiving Person. A study of 135 couples found that ones who had the most forgiving spouses were twice as likely to repeat “bad behavior.” Going back and forth between forgiveness and anger is even WORSE. It made the person six times more likely to be a repeat offender.
#2.) Being in Love. Apparently there’s a hormone that TELLS you you’re in love, called oxytocin. Unfortunately, it also makes you an emotional mess. When you’re in love, you’re also more likely to be irrational , which we all know. But it makes you more likely to do things like fly off the handle at work, or get jealous because your friend got a raise.
#3.) Holding Down a Job. Okay, the pros DEFINITELY outweigh the cons. But according to this one, your co-workers are basically sucking the life out of you AND out of the people you live with. Studies have shown that just being around ONE cynical co-worker can set off a chain reaction. And even if you love your job, hearing a coworker complain makes you less pleasant to be around when you get home.
#4.) Self-Improvement. Obviously don’t just let yourself go, but Apparently when you’re striving to be better at pretty much ANYTHING, it can turn you into a LIAR. At least when you’re talking about the thing you want to be better at. For example, if you want to be a better runner, and someone asks you what your best mile is, you’re more likely to shave off a few seconds. And you probably won’t feel bad about it, because in your mind, it WILL be true at some point in the future.
…Is anyone else still super excited that I found a way to talk about the book I just read in this post? You know how you finish something and you secretly pray someone asks you about it so you can tell them? It was just like that….ok, I’m done!
