Twitter Adds Video Tweeting!

You have been waiting for it (probably) and now it’s here, Video tweeting! Twitter added a new feature yesterday called VINE and it allows you to tweet a 6 second video from your phone just like you would any other tweet! So if you haven’t joined Twitter yet, that may be a good reason to do it now. When you get there be sure to follow me @NickonMix Kristen @Kristenonmix and of course the morning show! @MixMornings1007 and we will follow back!

Check out the video explaining the feature HERE

Would You Try It?

GForce

Even though I buy the big protective cases for my phones I still wouldn’t let anyone drop it from SPACE! They must have a lot of confidence in their case OR they don’t care about the phone they are dropping and can afford to buy another (Some of us can’t do that!). Either way, they attached it to a balloon and sent it flying, just to prove that their case could take the hit…will it make it?

Phone Calls?

Wait, you’re telling me that I just talk into this end and I can hear what my mom says on the other end of the phone? Is that new in iOS 6? Believe it or not we don’t really use our phones as phones anymore. We all knew this but they finally did a survey to show how much we use our phones for different things. Using it as a phone actually came in 5th place! And you’re saying to yourself “well yeah of course, everyone texts now” NOPE! Texting actually came in 7th place. So what are you ACTUALLY using your phone for? Find out after the jump!

Potty Fishin’

At some point in our lives we are going to drop something in the toilet that we don’t want to be in there. There have been several occasions that I’ve gone Potty Fishin’ for an item i needed. Unfortunately it’s almost always after I have finished using the toilet and it’s no longer just harmless water. Luckily I have never dropped my cell phone in the toilet so i haven’t had to make that critical decision just yet. If it came down to it though I am almost certain that I would reach in and get it out no matter what was “occompaining” it. It seems that 53% of people surveyed agree with that. What else would you do to get your phone back? Dig through garbage? Fight someone? See which side you fall on more “what ifs” after the jump!

It’s About Time!

They have finally accepted the new generation! By “they” I mean the the National Broadcasting Alert System. All the major US carriers will go live with an emergency alert system on your cell phones. You will get text warnings for tornados, flash floods, earthquakes and more. You CAN opt out of these alerts however, you won’t be able to avoid a presidential declaration of a national emergency. The carriers are: At&t, Cellcom, Cricket, Sprint Nextel, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Verizon Wireless. I think this is way over due with the vast amount of cell phone customers there are now. Will it work? We will see when the first alert hits!

How Sad Are We? This Sad…

When a bug flies by me I turn into this screaming little girl, waving my hands and running in circles trying to get away from it. It’s not pretty. This is a fear that I share among several other people across the globe. Not weird. However, do you know that feeling you get in your stomach when you reach into your pocket and realize you forgot your phone at home? That is called Nomophobia and it has been declared the most common fear in the world. THE WORLD! 66% of people in the world suffer from some amount of Nomophobia. Not snakes, not drowning or falling LOSING YOUR PHONE.

Sadly I can believe it because I am a suffer-er. I think I am going to start a help group. Would you join?

Don’t Eat & Drive

On occasion you can find me eating a sandwich, talking on the phone, blasting my music and looking at directions on my phone all at once! Suprisingly, I’m not DEAD! After reading this study I may have to adjust my driving tactics. Nah, I’ll just buy a bluetooth!

Eating and driving distracts you significantly more than being drunk or texting and driving. When you eat, your reaction time slows down up to…

So Much Nakedness!

If I were to lose my phone the one thing I would worry about is having to get all my contact information back. However, about 1 in 4 people have something a little worse to worry about. According to a survey of 2000 Smartphone users 26% have a naked photo of themselves on their phones RIGHT NOW! That is a lot of nudity for the world to see, now I can’t say that I don’t have them on my phone but I do know that you will NOT want to see it. So don’t bother stealing my phone. Also, of that 26%, one third of them have shared it with someone else.

App Of The Day 2/22

I’m the kind of nerd that needs to have all my album covers on my iPhone so that when I scroll through them they look pretty. So don’t be surprised that I love this new app I found called ‘Call Screen Maker” Which does exactly what it says it does. Instead of having NOTHING show up when your friend calls, why not something cute or scary or funny!? You can make whatever you want for them and have it appear when they call you! Check out some more exaples and more info about the app after the jump!
