You have been waiting for it (probably) and now it’s here, Video tweeting! Twitter added a new feature yesterday called VINE and it allows you to tweet a 6 second video from your phone just like you would any other tweet! So if you haven’t joined Twitter yet, that may be a good reason to do it now. When you get there be sure to follow me @NickonMix Kristen @Kristenonmix and of course the morning show! @MixMornings1007 and we will follow back!

This is probably one of my favorite updates that Facebook has done in a long time. Their Messenger App on iPhone and Android devices has just updated in the last day or so to include voice messaging. If you have had a smartphone a while then you may have apps like HeyTell or Voxer that you can use to send short voice recordings instantly back and forth with your friends. Facebook has taken that…

YAY TECH!

It seems like just the last 10 years that tech has really taken over our lives! Although Youtube and Facebook feel like they have been around forever to me. I don’t know what I would do without tech in my life other than be bored all the time and most likely have better eyesight. I came across some crazy tech facts that are pretty interesting and at the same time mind blowing to think about. Especially since I remember having to make room on my phone so I could get new text messages. Plus the iphone I had last year I had to download an APP to shoot video! Now they are making commercial with them! So tech is moving fast and I love it! Seriously, how does anyone get ANYWHERE without GPS?

Check out the things that happen every MINUTE in the world!

It’s About Time!

They have finally accepted the new generation! By “they” I mean the the National Broadcasting Alert System. All the major US carriers will go live with an emergency alert system on your cell phones. You will get text warnings for tornados, flash floods, earthquakes and more. You CAN opt out of these alerts however, you won’t be able to avoid a presidential declaration of a national emergency. The carriers are: At&t, Cellcom, Cricket, Sprint Nextel, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Verizon Wireless. I think this is way over due with the vast amount of cell phone customers there are now. Will it work? We will see when the first alert hits!

Homeless Hot Spots?

Yes, soon you will be able to use a homeless person as an internet Hot Spot. That’s right, simulateously giving homeless people money and allowing you to play on your wi-fi only iPad (cause its the cheapest) is actually a thing that they are working on. In fact they are testing this as we speak in Austin. What happens is they will find a random homeless person on the street and “recruit” them. They put on a T-Shirt that says “Im a Hot Spot” and you give them some money via Paypal to connect to their network. The homeless people get to keep the money that is donated and you get Wi-Fi. Pretty sweet right?

The only thing I can see wrong is that where homeless people usually hang out. You probabaly don’t want to be cruising your laptop there for longer than it takes to drive through the area. We will see!
